The meeting was brought to order by Supervisor Moraska. The following Board members were present: Jim Moraska, Jerry Bartnicki, Cherryl Mencinger, Chris LeBoeuf and Kevin LaBonte. Guests included: Gerald Kleiman, Jim Nowack, Leon Felch, and Dan Hammerberg.
No public comment
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:
The motion was made by Chris to approve the agenda with Kevin supporting.
All bills are up to date. A motion was made to accept the Clerks Report by Chris and was seconded by Jim. Kevin and Chris looked over the expense statements. Minutes of the monthly meetings can be viewed on the Township website located at www.powers-spalding.org
Jerry gave the financial hand out showing the Township’s monthly balances and went over the report. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Kevin and seconded by Chris.
All is well at both taverns and at the grocery store for September.
FIRE REPORT/FIRE CHIEF & FIRE DEPT:
The Department responded to 1 call costing 0 dollars in losses and spending a total of 0 hours and 50 minutes.

Subject: Memo #1 Grants
We did receive an application for the 2022 VFA DNR grant. I did submit the grant application for various hand tools and equipment in the total amount of approximately $4500.00. We were notified we did receive this grant. We have been working on the equipment list and will be working toward ordering the equipment. We have ordered some of the equipment and some is currently being delivered. I need to work on the closeout paperwork.
2021 AFG Grant
We were fortunate that they extended the grant application deadline to January 21, 2022. I submitted the application for a new fire engine to replace Engine 1 with an amount of $375,000. Our cost share if awarded is $17,857.14. The application was submitted on January 18, 2022. Waiting on award announcement. Announcements have started, no word yet.
The grass has been slowing down. There’s an ad in the Luft’s advertiser announcing removal of Cemetery items by Oct 1st, 2022. Planning to close the Park Oct 1st. There is a party reserved for Oct 14th. The campground will be reopened for this party, and then closed again.
Leon got a call from Betty Burk telling him that she will be razing the house that she owns. He explained that he would be checking. He did and everything is good. Leon also inspected another parcel owned by Noah Marichek. There was another building behind the original building, he will be adding that to the parcel.
RESOLUTION TO RESTRICT TRAFFIC
A resolution was drawn up to restrict traffic on Quarry road to limit heavy truck traffic on that road. Chris made the motion to allow this resolution and was seconded by Kevin. Motion approved. Roll Call Vote: Jim, yes, Cherryl, yes, Jerry, yes, Chris, yes, Kevin, yes, Motion approved.
RESOLUTION FOR THE PARK LIMIT ON CAMPING
A resolution was established to limit the campers to 14 days unless approved by the Park Ranger. A roll call vote was taken. Roll Call Vote: Jim, yes, Cherryl, yes, Jerry, yes, Chris, yes, Kevin, yes, Motion approved. Effective immediately.
COMPLAINTS ON THE 400 ROAD GRAVEL
Jim received complaints on parts of the 400 road, Jim invited these people to attend our Board meeting but they didn’t come to our meeting. The Road Commission worked on this road and it is much better. Thank You Menominee County Road Commission.
BID FOR SNOW PLOWING AT THE HALL/FIRE DEPT.
The Luft’s advertiser will be posting a notice requesting bids for plowing the Township and fire department.
A list of election inspectors was emailed to all of our Board members and the Democratic and Republican reps for the next November 8th election.
Gerald did all the necessary work that is required to be in compliance for our landfill. Jim mailed all the needed paperwork.

Gerald requested to be able to buy new blades on the brush hog. Dan question if the Road Commission is finished with gravel on River Road. Yes, they are done with that area.
