The meeting was brought to order by Supervisor Moraska. The following Board members were present: Jim Moraska, Jerry Bartnicki, Cherryl Mencinger, and Kevin LaBonte. Absent was Chris LeBoeuf. Guests included: Gerald Kleiman, Jim Nowack, Leon Felch, Dan Hammerberg and Mark Simon.
PUBLIC COMMENT:

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:
The motion was made by Kevin to approve the agenda with Jerry supporting.
CLERKS REPORT:
All bills are up to date. A motion was made to accept the Clerks Report by Jim and was seconded by Kevin. Kevin looked over the expense statements. Minutes of the monthly meetings can be viewed on the Township website located at www.powers-spalding.org
TREASURERS REPORT:
Jerry gave the financial hand out showing the Township’s monthly balances and went over the report. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Kevin and seconded by Cherryl.
LIQUOR REPORT:
All is well at both taverns and at the grocery store for June.
FIRE REPORT/FIRE CHIEF & FIRE DEPT:
The Department responded to 5 calls costing 0 dollars in losses and spending a total of 3 hours and 3 minutes.

Subject: Memo #1 Grants
DNR Grant
We did receive an application for the 2022 VFA DNR grant. Dan did submit the grant application for various hand tools and equipment in the total amount of approximately $4500.00. We were notified we did receive this grant. We have been working on the equipment list and will be working toward ordering the equipment.We have ordered some of the equipment and some is currently being delivered.
2021 AFG Grant
We were fortunate that they extended the grant application deadline to January 21, 2022. I submitted the application for a new fire engine to replace Engine 1 with an amount of $375,000. Our cost share if awarded is $17,857.14. The application was submitted on January 18, 2022. Waiting on award announcement. Possibly starting announcements next month.
Hannahville Grant
We put in a grant for some mechanic tools for the station. Received notification we were awarded the grant. Will start ordering the tools.
CEMETERY/PARK REPORT:
Gerald and the Township Board would like to thank Jim and Connie Nowack, Dawn, Amanda, Eric, and Sophia Kleiman, Ken Kirschner, and Wendy Sexton, for all their help at the Cemetery getting it cleaned up for Memorial Day. Everyone worked hard and it looked great for Memorial Day!!! 3 burials are coming up.
We’re having problems with a person in the park who is mentally challenged. The State Mental Health Dept is involved. The New camera at the Park will be installed next week.
ASSESSOR’S REPORT:
Some issues were either missed or added wrongly and will need a Board of Review for July.
SHERIFF’S REPORT:

OLD BUSINESS:
COUNTY ARPA FUNDS UPDATE
Jim contacted our County Administrator at their meeting they were to form a committee to discuss where this money is to go.
SECURITY CAMERAS AT THE PARK
The new cameras are supposed to be installed next week.
U.P. ROAD RALLY JUNE 18TH
Several roads are going to be closed. The economics are good for the Township.
NEW BUSINESS:
PAYMENT ON NEW HALL
Payment on the new town hall was made the first of June and we have extra money in our account so the Board decided to put an extra $50,000.00 on this account. A motion was made by Kevin and seconded by Cherryl to make the extra payment and a motion was made by Kevin to adjust the budget and was seconded by Jerry.
2ND PAYMENT OF ARPA FUNDS FROM THE STATE
Jerry received a notice that the second payment from the state of the ARPA funds will be received by the end of the month.

MOTION TO PAY THE BILLS (ROLL CALL VOTE)
Motion was made to pay the bills by Kevin and seconded by Jerry, Motion approved. Roll Call Vote: Jim, yes, Cherryl, yes, Jerry, yes, Kevin, yes, Motion approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jim Nowack questioned about removing the big pine tree at the park and planting a row of trees in their place. Gerald asked if we wanted the landfill cut and weedwacked, Jim said yes.
