PROPOSED MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The motion was made by Kevin to approve the agenda with Jerry supporting. All in favor, Aye, Motion carried.
- BIGGS PRESENTATION ON HIS PROPOSED MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION IN SPALDING, TWP (LIMIT TO 10 MINUTES)
Mr. Biggs presented his proposal for his grow operation. He stated, what he would like to do, as far as in coming years, he intends to add to the number of plants he has, he intends to move his operation indoors as he gets bigger. Bob also stated that as his operation gets bigger, he intended to donate a percentage of his income into a foundation for Spalding Township children for education. He stated the safety aspect of his operation and how it will be protected. He stated that he will be hiring local people and supporting local contractors.
- QUESTIONS & ANSWERS (LIMIT 2 MINUTES EACH)
Jim now opened the meeting to questions. Questions were around how many plants does he intend to grow, questions were about smell, safety aspects, depreciation of local properties, water issues, landscaping of local forest sites, people issues, children being exposed. Etc..
- COMMENTS & CONCERNS (LIMIT 2 MINUTES EACH)
Some people commented to being open to having a business but not in their backyards. They’re concerned about the safety about theft and people who don’t have the best intentions in our area, and the environment it will create.
- BOARD MEMBERS COMMENTS
Jim opened the meeting to the Board members after listening to all their comments. We had about 35 people attend and the majority overwhelming were against the grow operation in our township, the 35 or so people were from all over the township, not just in the area of where the grow was to be located. Jerry stated he wanted to stay with our original ordinance banning all marijuana, Cherryl felt the same, Kevin agreed, and David as well, Jim also wanted to stay with our original ordinance. Jim apologized to Mr Biggs but stated our ordinance stands. We decided to stay with the ordinance and told Mr. Biggs a license would not be issued.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Jim asked for a motion to adjourn, David made that motion with Cherryl seconding, motion carried. The meeting ended at 7:43 P.M.
